"A 3D Printer is the most revolutionary tool you can add to your shop...if you know how to use it!"

A 3D Print Your Tools subscription gives you a library of useful files to print, the training you need to get started, and more!

It's been a decade since I bought my first 3D printer, to solve one problem in my woodshop. As I learned to use it, it easily became the most useful tool in my shop and changed my life. With the right resources anyone can take advantage of the benefits of a 3D printer in your own shop.

In case we haven’t been properly introduced, I’m Ryan, the founder of Seneca Woodworking. We design precision woodworking tools that we CNC machine at our shop here in Clarion PA and then ship all over the world. When I started about 14 years ago I was designing woodworking tools in my dad’s woodshop. To make the metal parts we needed we would make dimensioned drawings of the parts and have a machine shop up the street manufacture prototypes. We would test the prototypes, make changes if necessary and eventually get production runs of our first tools made. This worked great but the problem is that machine shops usually serve many clients, and to get one prototype made for testing could take two months. I knew there had to be a better way, so I started researching 3D printers. I found out that consumer grade 3D printers could be purchased for a few thousand dollars, so I bought one hoping to speed up our product development.

I told my dad what I had done and he thought I was crazy. Even though he knew what 3D printing was, industrial 3D printers cost tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, so he didn’t think one I bought for a few thousand could be more than a toy, so I set out to prove him wrong.

Getting a 3D printer really sped up our product development process.  Suddenly a design on my computer screen that previously took two months to prototype was now available in a matter of hours or even minutes. We were developing new tools in 1/10th of the time!

It didn’t stop there,  because I had the 3D printer available to me, I was using it every way I could. I started making router jigs and templates, tool and bit organizers, hinges and door pulls, replacement parts for both tools and household items that had been discontinued.  Before long the 3D printer was used more than my drill press and table saw combined!

The main reason dad didn't think we needed a 3D printer, was because he didn't realize how useful of a tool it was. Once we started using it in our shop, it was clear to him that one 3D printer wasn't enough!

Our goal with 3DPYT is to give you the knowledge and resources you need to get the most out of your 3D Printer.

At this time all models on 3D Print Your Tools are for personal use only.  In the future we will offer a Commercial license that allows printing models for resale.

Ever since we added a 3D printer to our wood shop, we've found countless ways to use it. Our subscription is a curated collection of printable models that we've designed to be useful in your wood shop.

At launch, all of the 3D Printed accessories for Festool tools available to purchase from SenecaWoodworking.com are available to download as 3D printable models. (over $300 worth of tools if purchased from Seneca Woodworking).

We believe in quality over quantity:  There are many sources for free 3D models online, but over the years we've wasted pounds of filament printing tools that just didn't work or didn't print right.  Most of the the files on 3DPYT are designed by the same team that designed the precision woodworking tools available from Seneca Woodworking.  They're designed and tested to print well and work great.
